My cousin has been ever so patiently waiting for me to pay CA a visit because of all these new spots he says I have to try. I’m not mad, I’m here for it. I love trying new spots with my cousin, we’ve been doing this since 2001 when we’d take our 16 year old asses to San Francisco like we really had business being there. I’m sad all of our old spots have since closed down, I could really go for a Strawberry Shortcake. I use to almost miss the ferry home for that shortcake. So it’s really no surprise that when we do get together, this is what we do — eat.

The last time I was home he took me to a sushi spot in Oakland that I absolutely love. This time he took me to a sushi spot in Concord, near my old school (both of them). It’s crazy to see how much of places I use to go to daily have changed in the last 10-12 years I’ve been gone. Ya’ll couldn’t do this shit when I was still living here?! Like damn. Hitting me with all this FOMO since Texas is… well… Texas. It’s a struggle.

I opted to sit outside cause it was a nice day and I’m glad I did, the lighting was it.

I started with the Miso Soup. I actually really liked it. The Tofu pieces were a nice size, although I don’t think there was really any Seaweed in this one… but it was still a great way to start the meal.

I trusted my cousins selection on rolls since when it comes to non spicy, we pretty much both gravitate towards the same kinds (salmon with lemon slices? yas). He picked his “usual two” (which I fell in love with) and had the server send us his favorite roll which was okay, not really our style but was definitely worth the try.

On the left we had the Wonder Roll.

On the right we had the Michi Roll and behind it is the servers recommendation of the BMW Roll.

The fish was fresh and the ingredients were just as fresh. All together the flavors came together nicely and we actually got full off just these three rolls. Which is crazy. The price point really isn’t that bad either if split in half, I enjoyed this place a lot.

It’s nice to see that there’s a really good sushi spot in Concord! Low key glad this wasn’t here when I was in college or I definitely would have blown all my money eating here lol.
